A Healing Tarot
I have created a healing deck for those with loved ones fighting cancer and for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one to cancer. I am publishing them in card form as a discursive tool, to share the journey together as a proof of survival.
I believe that sharing experiences of trauma is transformative. How are you doing? Listen for the answers. I want to help with the questions. I don’t believe that grief is relative. The worst thing that you’ve ever experienced is all you can know. You own it and there is a power in that. Our shared existence is proof that you can survive and that there is an after life— yours. In this project, my own memories of my Dad’s life and death with cancer offer the framework for opening up conversations with friends, loved ones and those who are with you on your journey.
My own incarnation of a tarot chose me. I use the term “tarot” more as a reference point for how the cards can be experienced rather than with any specific connection to the history of tarot itself. The images on the cards are adapted from drawings that I made after I completed the text. There are 13 cards; they are not linear or cyclical but touchstones on our own individual journeys. Stages or entry points to ask and hear. Your own path will guide you in reading the cards.
It is my most fervent hope that this will become a healing tool for all forms of trauma.
